Skoda is all set to unveil the new Octavia RS at the Bharat Mobility Show, alongside the refreshed Kodiaq SUV. Both models will be showcased for the first time in India, with the Octavia RS aiming to attract enthusiasts with its sporty appeal and advanced features.
Performance Highlights of the Octavia RS
The new Octavia RS is powered by a 2.0-liter TSI turbo-petrol engine that generates an impressive 265hp and 370Nm of torque. Paired with a 7-speed automatic DSG transmission, it can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.4 seconds, with a top speed capped at 250 km/h. Its sports suspension, limited-slip differential, and adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) ensure excellent handling and driving dynamics.
Additional features include ventilated disc brakes for superior stopping power and RS-specific design elements such as black accents and a red reflector strip at the rear. The car also offers LED Matrix beam headlights, animated turn indicators, and exclusive alloy wheels for a striking appearance.
Octavia RS: A Legacy in India
Skoda has a history of introducing the Octavia RS in India as a niche product. The RS 230 debuted in 2017, followed by the RS 245 at Auto Expo 2020. Both models were sold in limited numbers as Completely Built Units (CBUs), and the new RS is expected to follow a similar strategy.
What to Expect at the Bharat Mobility Show
The fourth-generation Octavia RS will be on display at the event to gauge customer feedback. Depending on the response, Skoda might bring it to India in limited numbers. However, being a CBU, it is expected to command a high price.
Future Plans for the Standard Octavia
Skoda is also exploring the possibility of reintroducing the standard fourth-generation Octavia in India. Previously assembled locally, it was discontinued in 2023 due to stricter BS6.2 emission norms. The company is considering local assembly for the facelifted version, which could make it more affordable, with an estimated price around ₹30 lakh.
A Modern, Sporty Interior
Inside, the Octavia RS features a sporty black theme with red stitching and premium materials like artificial leather and Suedia microfibre. It comes equipped with sports seats, a 13-inch central display, and a multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters. Ergonomic comfort seats with massage functionality are also available in the higher trim.
A Peek into the Future
The Bharat Mobility Show will be a platform for Skoda to assess customer interest in its premium offerings. With the Octavia RS and the new Kodiaq SUV taking center stage, the brand aims to solidify its position in the Indian market while catering to both enthusiasts and luxury car buyers.
